Second Chance Community Garage
and Outreach Services

Restoring Vehicles. Rebuilding Lives. Strengthening Communities.

We provide practical assistance, opportunity, and a second chance to individuals and families facing transportation, financial, technological, and essential-needs challenges.

Our Mission

Second Chance Community Garage and Outreach exists to provide practical assistance, opportunity, and a second chance to individuals and families facing transportation, financial, technological, and essential-needs challenges.

Our goal is to help people become more stable and self-sufficient by providing affordable automotive assistance, transportation support, technology education and repair, essential resources, community outreach, and connections to additional resources and services.

We believe that a reliable vehicle can mean the difference between keeping a job and losing one, getting to medical appointments and missing them, or remaining independent and becoming dependent on others.

How Our Service Model Works

Second Chance Services

Reduced-cost help for qualifying individuals, including labor assistance, preventive maintenance, brake work, diagnostics, minor repairs, and computer and electronics repair. People may contribute toward parts and labor according to their circumstances.

Regular Community Garage Services

Normal paid services for customers who can afford to pay: diagnostics, mechanical and electrical repairs, maintenance, inspections, used vehicle inspections, and computer repair. This revenue helps support our community assistance work.

Instead of asking only “Can you afford the repair?”, we look at what is needed, what the person can contribute, and what assistance we can reasonably provide. Services depend on available funding, donated parts, volunteers, equipment, facility capacity, and safety.

Who We Help

Individuals & families facing hardship

People struggling to afford vehicle repairs, transportation, food, technology, or other essential resources.

People who need a vehicle for work

We prioritize safety and reliability repairs, help identify urgent repairs, and help people understand estimates.

Seniors & people with limited options

Community members who have difficulty maintaining a vehicle or getting to appointments and services.

People rebuilding their lives

We don’t define people by their past. We recognize their potential and help them move forward.

Learners of all ages

Hands-on learning in automotive fundamentals, diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, computer repair, and shop safety.

The broader community

Food and essential-item distribution, resource referrals, and connections to organizations that can help further.

Assistance is never conditioned on religious participation, political affiliation, or membership in another organization. No one is turned away solely because they can’t afford to pay. Every person who walks through the door is treated with dignity and respect.

About Us

Our vision isn’t just about fixing cars. It’s about creating opportunities for people who need a second chance. Whether someone needs a brake job, a meal, a computer repaired, or just guidance, they should leave better off than when they arrived.

How SCCGO Started

In 2025, our founder helped a friend replace a mirror on his truck at a self-service auto shop on a local military base, where anyone could rent a bay and use professional tools. Seeing how much good one open, well-equipped garage could do sparked the idea for SCCGO: a place where people can learn real skills, fix their own vehicles, and get a second chance.

Our Long-Term Vision

A community campus with a full-service training garage, classrooms, a food pantry, a computer lab, a resource center, an emergency assistance office, and eventually transitional housing and a workforce development program.

Our Founder

Anthony C. Williams
Founder, CEO & Volunteer

Our Founder's Story

Anthony came to Colorado Springs from Pueblo in October 2019. He was struggling with addiction and needed a fresh start, and a friend brought him here after a hard time. He has been clean and sober ever since.

That first winter, from 2019 to April 2020, they were homeless and lived in a 1987 Ford Bronco II that Anthony repaired almost every day to keep it running. They tried to find help, but often got the runaround because they didn't know the hours, the locations, or what was required. They shopped at thrift stores and made every dollar count. A $20 Coleman camp stove for cooking dinners and a $15 thrift-store cooler kept cold with dry ice helped their food assistance last almost three weeks at a time.

Anthony had worked as a union hot tar roofer until a health problem left him disabled, so money for parts was tight. Little by little they saved, moved into an apartment, and he built a full set of mechanic's tools. He went on to work as a DOT-certified flagger.

Along the way he taught himself: researching vehicles, watching thousands of hours of training videos, learning diagnostics, and putting it to work on the vehicles they owned. Today he is even writing his own diagnostic software, with help from AI tools that made the dream feel reachable.

In 2025 the vision for SCCGO took shape. Anthony wants to help others move forward the way he was helped, through their own determination and a real path to standing on their own. He believes everybody deserves a second chance, offered with dignity and respect, not exclusion or handouts.

Our Instructor

Ben Brown
Master Tech & Instructor

"I was raised by a master mechanic who taught me everything that formed my basic knowledge. He instilled in me a strong work ethic and a drive to learn how things work, and to find out why something isn't working the way it was designed.

I love helping people by fixing what's wrong and explaining what I did, so they understand the process. All my life I've wanted to teach others what I know, so they gain a sense of accomplishment and self-worth. Even if they can't fix it themselves yet, they'll be able to explain the problem, and they'll have a solid base to keep learning if they choose.

I grew up in a small town, in a time when you could ask your neighbor for help with any project and they'd gladly pitch in. I want to bring that back. Everyone needs help, and some are too scared to ask. Anyone who comes into the shop will be treated with respect and with love, as a person. I'll use every skill I have to make sure they leave in a safe vehicle, with a smile."

Board & Governance

SCCGO is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, starting with at least three directors and growing to five or seven. The Board protects our mission, oversees finances and programs, meets at least quarterly, follows a written conflict-of-interest policy, and regularly reviews our programs, finances, and community impact. Directors serve without pay for their board service.

Board member introductions coming soon.
